Many people think that we have a common history as a nation or State or Place or Clan, is it really true?. This kind of perspective is nurturing by our education system.
History is an modern notation of recording the events in chronological manner based on records or archeological findings. if we critically analyze the above statements we will have interesting findings. Firs of all it's a modern notation, second it's recording of events and finally sources.
First,it's a modern notation the history of history is not more than 2500 years and In different countries adopted it in the different period. Is it simple do we have any authenticated history of Africa or America written by aboriginal people?. Even India adopted the modern notation of history in medieval era.
Second, it's about recording of the event, it's very difficult to capture the exact happening in that particular frame of the time because it's a interaction of complex human behaviors. The perspective of a person recording on the event will reflect in recording of the event. Even in our Indian history has studied in different perspectives like Orientalist, Nationalist, Socialist, Subaltern, feminist and many more.
Finally, sources plays a vital role in recording the history. For example Discovery of Indus Valley civilization pushed origin of Indian civilization 2000 years back.
History is a perspectives of a historian based on the dynamically varying sources available on that particular point of the time. So we have the histories not a history of a Nation or State or Place or Clan.
It's still my incomplete perspective on History :)
